Drawing everyday in the year of the snake 2
So I’ve been drawing everyday in this current Chinese year. At first I was going to post regularly about it, but I quickly realised that: A. no one wants to see that, B. it’s really not that impressive – there are people who do whole drawings everyday (I’m definitely not doing that, I’m just doing at least ‘some’ drawing everyday) and C. It’s really a challenge to myself rather than proving anything to anyone else.
But whether observational drawing, drawing/painting with my son, pulling an all-nighter for a last minute illustration or storyboard job, preparing work for an upcoming exhibition, or just doing a few quick squiggles before the clock strikes midnight, I have managed over the past 5 months to draw everyday in one form or another. I have to say it’s impacted on my creativity in a really positive way – drawing is more second nature than ever and I’d definitely recommend challenges like this to anyone who is experiencing a bit of a block, lull, or has been sitting on the same plateau for a while and wants to take things to the next level… Anyway, here’s a few drawings from the year so far:
Drawing and painting with my little man
Some current work for upcoming exhibitions
Observational drawing series
A couple of recent storyboard jobs
Part of a suite of 22 illustrations for a soon to be published YA fiction book
