Big Picture Festival
“Sad eyed lady of the lowland copperhead mangle” is my mural in Frankston for Big Picture Festival 2023.
A trip to the Frankston historical society yielded some great photos of an old 18th century mangle (clothes wringer).
And the revelation that the area was once a fishing village infested with Lowland Copperhead snakes.
The end result of pondering all of this is was a design based around reflecting on a time where life was more fraught, hard fought, simpler and perhaps more cherished because of it.
