Mordialloc freeway underpass mural project 3
The Mordialloc freeway underpass mural project is a series of murals painted on the new pedestrian underpass in Braeside.
The mural was a collaborative project with artist Ashleigh Pugh and together we formed a design that addressed the requested themes of local flora & the Aboriginal history of the area. In consultation with Bunurong land council we formed an appropriate approach for the latter element and Ash drew upon her indigenous heritage to depict this important culture and it’s connection to the surrounding land. This gallery (3 of 3) shows the Braeside park side wall that features a depiction of a smoking ceremony with various native animals emerging from the smoke painted by Ash. This design reflects the Bunurong people’s connection to the land and all that inhabits it.
